I got the 18032 code which tells me there is something going on with the transmission.

I don't have a VAG to get the code off the TCM. What should I do?

 

This code is associated with the torque converter issues that these cars are prone to have. Here is a link to write up that will explain it a little clearer but the ultimate answer is you are more than likely going to need a new torque converter.

18032 - MIL Request Signal Active (.........)

The next code you read or the info in brackets points to the problem area.

 

So I guess I need a VAG to know what the next code is. I have a code reader that reads the DTC codes but nothing more. So I only get the 18032.

Focus on the issue, ignorance would not be your best bet here.

 

Yea you can get the free version of vag and you can find a cable on ebay for $10.00 its well worth the investment.

 

Just ordered one. Will post my findings. I'm hoping it's not the torque converter.

BTW...I have a 2002 A6 w/ 3.0L, automatic transmission

Yea thats definetly not good news. I am in the same situation I am going to remove the trans and take it into a local indy trans shop that I deal with. they are telling me it will be about $1,300 to rebuild it for me.
