Default I've lost my service history book - what can I do??

Hi Guys,

As above really, I have a 1998 A6 2.8 Quattro Avant and I want to sell it for various reasons, but drastically I've lost my service book The car was FSH when I bought it, although not all Audi (I think up to about 80K was Audi, then an independent) but most reviews say not to touch an A6 without the history, so I was wondering if there is anything I can do??

It needs a service and a cambelt change, along with some other minor things before I sell it, but I wondered if there is any way to get a replacement book, or a print out from Audi of any history they have on their system? Has anyone else done this? I think the HPi check I did on the car showed it had FSH but I don't know if that would work when trying to sell it...

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Many thanks in advance.

Stewart

I think you are worried about nothing. If you change the cam belt and do a full service on fluids and filters, you are golden. Just start there, thats way better than most used cars get before sale!

Maintenance history reports are easily obtained from dealers.

Cheers Guys,

I have contacted Audi, and they are going to give me a print out of the history they have on file which runs to 53K (the car is currently on 100K). I think when my log book comes back I will try to contact the previous owner to see where he had the stuff done and see if I can obtain anything else. I hope that with a service and cambelt change, plus the history record from Audi, a long MOT and fresh tax that I will be able to sell it for a reasonable amount...

Thanks again fellas!
