Default Replacing the armrest lid.

So my '07 A4's armrest lid broke today. The latch mechanism that holds the lid shut snapped off.

I purchased a new lid to replace it with, but I'm not entirely sure how to take the old arm rest apart so that I can put the new lid on.

Could anyone offer advise?

Here's my old lid with the broken latch.

Here's the armrest in question, if it helps jog your memory at all.

Mine broke too. I told my wife to deal with it as trading will be within the year.

Ok, I figured out how to fix it.

I purchased a new lid for like $68.

From there, you just squeeze the old one a bit and pop the one side out of where it's mounted. Once it's out, you can flex it a little more while turning it, and the 2nd side pops out. Suddenly your lid is free. Then do the same thing to get the new one in place. Takes all of 1 minute.

I wish that Audi/VW could make parts like this more durable. My Jetta's armrest latch broke in a similar manor, and was about $40 to replace. Eventually the hinge that keeps the lid on failed. One to many closings with the phone charger cord caught in the way! I just dealt with a loose armrest lid since it was way to much to fix on a car with over 100 thousand miles.

I got mine from the local dealership. Even though I didn't purchase my car there, they've given me 15% off of every parts purchase I've made.

They're a nice group of guys working there.

The armrest cover on my '07 A4 is yet to break (may be because I don't open/close
that often :-)). But recently, have started seeing a annoyingly loud, creaking noise
when I rotate the whole box about the axis.

Any easy fix for this? Still under warranty, I'm taking it to the dealer next
week for the rear brakes. Don't know if they would agree to take a look
(since it is not really broken).

Default Busted armrest cover

I have a 2008 2.0T. The dealership replaced my busted armrest cover under warranty.

I just purchased a 2007 Audi A3 and the armrest mechanism is broken on the front as well they told me $120. Is there a seperate part number for just the top of the armrest? Also the armrest in the rear broke the same way and it cost $800 any ideas on where i can get just the piece I need for this fix? Thanks
