removing front bumper issue?
hey guys,
I'm having a problem removing the front bumper off my car for some stupid reason. It didn't seem like a hard thing to do but after removing all sorts of screws i still can't seem to get the darn thing off.
Does anyone one know of any special hidden screws that i need to be aware of. ( i've removed the screws behind the front end ( meaning the ones in front of the front tires ), and i've removed the ones under the lower grille section after removing the lower grille, but i don't know if i have to remove the headlight screws and the ones for the side fenders that are under the hood as well plus any screws form the under side of the car.
any help would be great. ( oh, i have a 2000 a6 4.2 ). thanks.

Never worked on that year car, so can only speak for my 02, not sure if they're the same.
My car has 3 locknuts on each side - crawl under the car and look towards the outside edge of headlights, they're not quite that high up, but that's the general area. They're 10mm. Other than those, I can only remember the ones behind lower grilles and the ones in the fender lip.

The two large ones under the grill you've removed correct.
Remove the belly pan.
Next remove the inner wheel well. Both sides
You need to take out the ten or so 10mm nuts all the way up front. stick your head in there you'll see them.
Have a clamp ready for the washer fluid hose. So when you disconnect it you don't loose allof your fluid.

I did not have to remove the inner wheel wells. (but did need to remove the two bolts (per side) in the lower wheel wells that go into the bumper cover.)
To reach the 3 nuts (3 on each side, 6 total.) that hold the bumper cover to the fender , I used two methods. The driver's side I was able to reach up in a gap just forward of the tire and inner wheel well. On the passenger side I removed the air box. The nuts are right behind it. Keep an eye on the little plastic washer thingies.
Also:
I use the bumper mounting bolts, with about 3.5 inches of fuel line, as the "special tools" to hold the carrier lock in place.
